Introduction
Hawley Bowling Club was founded in 1992 and so is a very young club in the bowling world. It is situated above the tennis courts, in the Blackwater and Hawley Leisure complex.  It is registered as a Community Amateur Sports Club.

The Club, though competitive, prides itself on its friendly and welcoming atmosphere.  Its membership covers all age groups and it is able to offer coaching for new bowlers as well as entrance to national, county and district competitions for experienced bowlers.  A team of hardworking members maintains the Green, which is acknowledged as one of the best in the area.  Other enthusiastic members maintain the club gardens, resulting in a riot of colour in the summer.  The clubhouse has been enlarged by members and is air conditioned so that players can retire into a cool room during the heat of the summer.

The season begins towards the end of April with a friendly get-together so that members can socialise before the games start.  Friendly and League games, as well as club competitions continue throughout the summer until early October.   In the autumn, members go away for an indoor bowling weekend.  Competition winners and runners-up receive their trophies at a dinner held in a nearby venue.   During the winter the club holds Whist, Kurling and Games evenings in its clubhouse.
